Colour in the Arts and Crafts Home

These colours are typical for the houses in the Arts and Crafts style and used in paints, wallpapers and fabrics.

The Arts and Crafts movement recommended more muted colours than the contemporary Gothic, High Victorian ones. Typical were an olive green (the 'greenery yallery' of popular legend), dark reds and pinks, and lilac blues.

Bright whites were available from the 1890s.
